چکیده

The Intermediate Silicon Layers Detector is presently being built as part of the CDF upgrades to prepare for the next Tevatron data taking run, scheduled to start in the year 2000. The ISL will be located in the radial region between the Silicon Vertex Detector and the Central Outer Tracker. It will add tracking in the forward region and signi cantly improve tracking in the central region. Together with the SVX II, the ISL forms a standalone, 3D silicon tracker. In this article we present the design of the ISL and the current status of its construction.

Simulation of a Neutron Detector for Real Time Imaging Applications

Monte Carlo Method is used to simulate a double layer gadolinium-amorphous silicon thermal neutron detector. The detector fabricated in pixel array configuration has various applications including neutron imaging. According to the simulation results, a detector consisting of a gadolinium (Gd) film with thickness of 2-4 ~m, sandwiched properly with two layers of sufficiently thick (-30 ?µm) hydr...

CDF TRACKING DOC PUBLIC August Proposal for Intermediate Silicon Layers in CDF

The CDF SVXII silicon detector will provide coverage to j j In the region j j the combination of the SVXII detector and the Central Open Cell Tracker COT will yield precise D tracking with high e ciency and purity For j j it may be possible to perform D tracking with SVXII alone but in the absence of larger radius hit information the impact parameter resolution for such tracks will be too poor ...

Design of Silicon Nano-Bars Anti-Reflection Coating to Enhance Thin Film Solar Cells Efficiency

In this paper a novel anti-reflection (AR) coating based on silicon nano-bars is designed and its impact on the performance of crystalline silicon (c-Si) thin-film solar cells is extensively studied. Silicon nano-bars with optimized size and period are embedded on top of the active layer, under a 100nm Si3N4 layer. As a result of the proposed layer stack, an inhomogeneous intermediate layer wit...

Design and Prototype Performance of the ATLAS Pixel Detector

The ATLAS experiment at the LHC will have three barrel and two times ve disk layers of silicon pixel detectors as the innermost elements of the Inner Tracking Detector. The detector is built adopting the hybrid pixel technology in which 16 highly performant FE chips are connected to a silicon sensor by means of the bump and ip-chip technique. Owing to the high bunch crossing rate of 40 MHz at t...

Analytical Approach for Vibration Analysis of a Microsensor with Two layers of Silicon and Piezoelectric based on MCST

The vibration analysis is an important step in the design and optimization of microsensors. In most of the cases, COMSOL software is employed to consider the size-dependency on the dynamic behavior in the MEMS sensors. In this paper, the Modified Couple Stress Theory (MCST) is used to capture the size effect on dynamic behavior in a microsensor with two layers of the silicon and piezoelectric. ...
